- The Simrad ES80 is the fifth generation professional split-beam fish finder, succeeding the ES60 and ES70 systems. Simrad introduced its first split-beam fish finder in 1984.
- The ES80 is positioned as Simrad's most modern "high-end" split-beam echo sounder in the professional fishery market. It utilizes the same physical units as the Simrad EQ50 echo sounder and the Simrad CP60 current indicator, allowing for modular expansion.
- The ES80's primary strengths include its wideband frequency sweep ('chirp') capabilities, which, combined with advanced signal processing, deliver excellent echo quality and increased resolution over longer ranges. It also offers simultaneous transmission of all frequencies and a high ping rate.
