- The Accelleron VTR series of turbochargers has a long heritage, with the VTR..0 model being launched in 1945 by Brown Boveri & Co (now Accelleron). The VTR series was developed in response to increased demand for turbocharged engines in the marine and rail transport sectors after World War II.
- The VTR series is a predecessor to Accelleron's TPL generation of turbochargers. Within the VTR series, the VTR 354 is a mid-range model, with smaller models like the VTR 214 and VTR 254, and larger models such as the VTR 454 and VTR 564 also available.
