- The MAN L23/30H series was first introduced to the market in 1965. Over its lifetime, more than 12,000 units have been produced. The Mk 2 version, an upgrade with significant design changes, was introduced around 2012. The Mk 3 variant was introduced in late 2018, with the first orders placed in February 2021.
- The L23/30H is part of MAN Energy Solutions' four-stroke, medium-speed marine diesel engine portfolio, designed primarily for auxiliary power generation (genset) and smaller propulsion applications. It sits within a range of engines that includes the smaller L16/24 and L21/31, and the larger L27/38 and L28/32H.
