The MAN 32/44CR series, a common rail fuel-injected, long-stroke derivative of the 32/40 design, was launched in 2006 as MAN Diesel & Turbo's first all-electronic four-stroke engine. It built upon the established 32/40 engine, which was introduced in 1994.
The L32/44CR is a medium-speed engine within MAN Energy Solutions' four-stroke portfolio, positioned to offer higher specific output and improved fuel economy compared to its 32/40 predecessor. It sits above smaller GenSets like the L21/31 and L27/38, and below larger propulsion engines such as the L48/60CR and L51/60DF.
This model is chosen for its high efficiency, specific power output, and low emissions, achieved through electronic injection, high-efficiency turbochargers, and variable valve timing. Its common rail technology allows for flexible control of fuel injection, optimizing fuel consumption and emissions across the entire load range.
