- The MAN 32/40 engine series was introduced to the market in 1994, initially as a small bore extension of MAN Diesel & Turbo's new generation medium-speed program. It was later released with an increased specific output.
- The V32/40 is a V-type configuration within the 32/40 series, which also includes the in-line L32/40 models. It offers a higher power output range compared to the L32/40, with up to 18 cylinders in the V-configuration versus 9 in-line cylinders.
