The MAN L27/38 series was introduced around 1999-2000. It was developed as a continuation of the strategy initiated with the L16/24, aiming for reduced size and weight, modular construction, and a simplified pipeless design.
The L27/38 sits in MAN Energy Solutions' medium-speed four-stroke engine portfolio, positioned above the L21/31 and below the L32/40 in terms of power output.
The MAN L27/38 is chosen for its robust construction, reliable and easy operation, and long time between overhauls (TBO). It offers good performance across the entire load range with quick acceleration and immediate load response.
