- The Stamford SX460 Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) is a half-wave phase-controlled thyristor type AVR that was previously used on Stamford UC22 and UC27 alternators. It has been a widely adopted model across numerous generator manufacturers integrating Stamford alternators.
- The SX460 is now obsolete and has been superseded by the AS440. Within the Stamford range, the SX460 was considered an all-rounder, while the AS440 is a compact, lower-cost alternative, and the MX341/MX321 are higher-end options for applications requiring permanent magnet generator (PMG) excitation.
- The SX460 was known for its wide input range, robust transient response, and field-proven stability, making it ideal for land-based prime power, rental fleets, and telecom shelters. It maintains consistent output voltage automatically, protecting equipment and ensuring power quality.
