Rudder stock push-up length is incorrect after initial setting

After confirming the push-up length, release pressure on pump 1 to zero. Maintain pump 2 pressure for one hour, then release it to zero. Recheck the push-up length to ensure it remains the same.

Hydraulic nut is loose after tightening

After removing pump connections and the dial micrometer, tighten the hydraulic nut with a spanner, applying slightly more torque. Place the air plugs to the nut and, some hours later, to the boss.

O-rings for rudder re-installation are damaged

Always renew O-rings (parts 12 and 15) during every re-installation of the rudder.

Oil blocking occurs in the hydraulic pump

Ensure the hydraulic pump oil has a viscosity of 30 cSt at approximately 50 degrees Celsius. If the oil is too thick, select an appropriate SAE grade based on temperature: SAE 10W for 0-8°C, SAE 20W for 8-18°C, SAE 30W for 18-27°C, SAE 40W for 24-32°C, or SAE 50W for 32-38°C.

Rudder blade is not properly secured to the rudder stock

Clean the rudder stock taper surface and the inside surface of the boss. Fit O-rings (parts 12, 15) with grease. Lift the rudder blade in line with the rudder stock, ensuring O-rings are not damaged, and bring it into contact with the rudder stock taper surface. Place O-ring (58) on the nut's top channel, then install the hydraulic nut and ring (parts 6 and 7) and preload with a slugging spanner.

Air is trapped in the rudder boss or hydraulic nut during oil filling

Open the air plugs in the rudder boss (part 5) and hydraulic nut (part 6). Connect pump 1 to the oil filling plug in the rudder boss and pump oil until it leaks from the air plug hole, then reinstall the air plug. Repeat this sequence for the hydraulic nut (part 6) using pump 2.

Rudder blade side covers are open after installation

Close the side covers on the rudder blade and weld them properly.

Rudder trunk is not filled with grease

After rudder installation, fully fill the inside of the rudder trunk with grease through the filling/vent plugs (part 16).

Flap operating link bolts are loose

Fit the flap operating link parts (27, 36) between the flap hinge and boss. Tighten the bolts (part 42) to a torque of 270 Nm. Fill the void space under cap part 26 with grease, close the cover, and tighten it. Place locking plate stoppers (part 52) and weld them to the axle and nut.

Anti-jumping stopper clearance is incorrect

Check the distance between the rudder blade and the rudder trunk. Place the anti-jumping stopper (61) and plate (62) with a 2 mm gap.
