Rudder stock taper surface is not clean for mounting
Carefully clean the rudder stock taper surface to remove any protection oil. Ensure the rudder blade is also prepared for mounting.
Rudder blade O-rings are jammed or damaged during lifting
Exercise special attention to protect O-rings (parts 12 and 15) during the lifting operation. Ensure they are not jammed or damaged.
Air is present in the rudder boss or hydraulic nut during oil filling
Open the air plugs in the rudder boss (part 5) and hydraulic nut (part 6). Pump oil until it leaks from the air plug hole, then reinstall the air plug.
Coupling push-up length is insufficient after initial pressure application
Increase pressure on pumps 1 and 2 until the coupling reaches the necessary push-up length (5.5 mm for flap type, 6.9 mm for spade type). Do not exceed the maximum allowable pressure of 57 N/mm².
Push-up length changes after pump pressure release
After releasing pump 1 pressure to zero and holding pump 2 pressure for one hour, release pump 2 pressure to zero. Check that the push-up length remains the same.
Hydraulic nut is not sufficiently tightened
After removing air plugs, tighten the hydraulic nut with a spanner, applying slightly more torque at the end.
Anti-jumping stopper gap is incorrect
Check the distance between the rudder blade and the rudder trunk. Adjust the anti-jumping stopper to provide a 2 mm gap.
Void space under the cap part is not filled with grease
Fill the void space under cap part 26 with grease, then close and tighten cover part 26.
Rudder trunk is not filled with grease
Completely fill the inside of the rudder trunk with grease through the filling/vent plugs (part 16) after rudder installation.
Hydraulic pump oil is too thick, causing blocking risk
Use hydraulic pump oil with a viscosity of 30 cSt at approximately 50 degrees Celsius. Select SAE 10W for 0-8C, SAE 20W for 8-18C, SAE 30W for 18-27C, SAE 40W for 24-32C, or SAE 50W for 32-38C.
