- The WinGD X82DF was introduced on June 4, 2019, as part of WinGD's expanded portfolio of low-speed, two-stroke engines capable of operating on low-emission fuels. It builds upon WinGD's proven low-pressure dual-fuel technology, which has been in operation since the launch of the X-DF series in 2013.
- The X82DF is part of WinGD's Generation-X engine portfolio, specifically designed for larger vessels such as VLCCs, VLOCs, and Panamax container vessels. It sits alongside the X82-D diesel engine, sharing a common design platform, but operates on the premixed, Otto-cycle combustion principle for dual-fuel operation.
- The X82DF's primary strength lies in its ability to meet IMO Tier III NOx emission limits in gas mode without the need for exhaust gas after-treatment, offering a sustainable and economical propulsion solution. It also boasts high combustion stability, reduced particle and SOx emissions, and offers fuel flexibility by operating on both gas and diesel fuels.
