- The WinGD X62DF is part of the X-generation of engines, with the X62DF-S1.0 and X62DF-S2.0 short-stroke variants launched in December 2019. The X-DF series, which includes the X62DF, has been in operation since 2016.
- The X62DF is a dual-fuel (DF) engine within WinGD's X-series, which also includes diesel-fueled X-Engines and other dual-fuel engines for methanol (X-DF-M), ammonia (X-DF-A), and LPG (X-DF-P). It sits in the mid-bore range of WinGD's dual-fuel LNG portfolio, with bore sizes of 620mm, positioned between the smaller X52DF and larger X72DF, X82DF, and X92DF engines.
- The X62DF, particularly its short-stroke variants (X62DF-S1.0 and X62DF-S2.0), is designed for vessels with shallow drafts, small propeller diameters, or low main deck heights, such as container feeders, RORO, CONRO, multipurpose cargo vessels, and vehicle carriers. It offers fuel flexibility, operating on LNG, HFO, distillate, or hybrid liquid fuels, and meets IMO Tier III emission requirements in gas mode without an SCR system.
