- The Danelec DM100 VDR was initially announced in April 2014 and received type approval by BSH in Germany on July 1, 2014, meeting the IMO's revised performance standards. A new generation, the DM100 VDR G3, was launched on September 24, 2025, featuring a redesigned architecture and enhanced capabilities.
- The DM100 VDR is Danelec's standard type-approved Voyage Data Recorder system, intended for all passenger ships and new cargo ships of 3000 gross tonnage and above. It sits alongside the DM200 S-VDR (Simplified VDR) for existing cargo ships and the DM400 VDR, which is also for new-build ships over 3000 GT.
- The DM100 VDR is known for its high quality, reliability, and ease of installation and maintenance, partly due to its SWAP (SoftWare Advanced Protection) technology, which allows for quick replacement of the main unit using a hot-swappable memory card. The latest G3 version emphasizes improved robustness, future-proof data capture, smart compliance features, and cloud-ready operations.
