- Hempel Hempaguard X7 was launched in 2013 as part of the new Hempaguard hull coating concept, following five years of development of its ActiGuard® technology. It was the first coating to utilize Hempel's ActiGuard® technology.
- Hempaguard X7 is considered Hempel's benchmark silicone coating system within the Hempaguard range. It sits above Hempaguard X5, which offers a shorter service interval, and is a foundational product upon which newer systems like Hempaguard MaX and Hempaguard Ultima are built, with Hempaguard X8 being the topcoat in the Hempaguard MaX system.
- Hempaguard X7 is chosen for its documented performance in fuel efficiency and fouling defense, offering up to 90 months of effective fouling protection with flexibility for various trading patterns and extended idle periods. It achieves this with significantly less biocide than traditional antifoulings, utilizing a biocide-activated hydrogel on a smooth silicone surface.
