- The Jotun Penguard series has a heritage of high performance in corrosion protection coatings for about 50 years. Penguard Universal is described as a "new" epoxy coating, suggesting a more recent introduction within this established line.
- Within Jotun's Penguard range, Penguard Universal is a versatile, multipurpose epoxy coating that can serve as a primer, mid-coat, finish coat, or a single-coat system. This contrasts with more specialized siblings like Penguard Express, which is primarily a fast-curing primer for atmospheric environments, or Penguard Express MIO, which is reinforced with micaceous iron-oxide pigments for an increased barrier effect.
- Penguard Universal is chosen for its versatility, offering excellent corrosion protection in both atmospheric and immersed environments, and its ability to be applied at sub-zero surface temperatures down to -10°C. It is also approved for cargo oil tanks and water ballast tanks according to IMO PSPC.
