- Jotun's SeaGuardian antifouling coating was available as early as July 2004. It is part of Jotun's broader range of antifouling solutions, which has included silyl-based coatings since 2000 with the SeaQuantum range.
- SeaGuardian is positioned as a self-polishing, ion-exchange antifouling coating. Within Jotun's offerings, it is designed for higher speed vessels, such as racing yachts, and offers protection for service periods of up to 36 months. In contrast, the SeaQuantum III series, launched in 2020, represents an evolutionary step with silyl methacrylate-based technology and microZone™ technology, offering tailored protection for different operational profiles and longer docking intervals of up to 60 months.
- SeaGuardian is chosen for its efficient fouling protection through self-polishing characteristics, its suitability for high-speed vessels, and its ability to be applied at sub-zero surface temperatures. It also provides good protection during prolonged dry-docking.
