Intershield 163 Inerta 160 is a specialized abrasion-resistant epoxy within International (AkzoNobel)'s range, specifically formulated for ice-going vessels. In contrast, Intershield 300 is a broader abrasion-resistant aluminum pure epoxy coating that serves as a universal primer for various applications, including atmospheric, submerged, deck, and tank areas, and is not limited to ice-going vessels.
This coating is chosen for its ability to provide corrosion protection and maximize icebreaking efficiency in extreme low temperatures, down to -50°C. Its smooth surface assists ice slip, resists ice adhesion, and offers low frictional resistance, which contributes to fuel savings and improved operational efficiency.
