The Sigma Coatings brand was formed in 1972 through the merger of three companies, including Pieter Schoen & Sons, which began in 1722 grinding pigments in the Netherlands. PPG acquired the SigmaKalon Group, which included Sigma Coatings, in 2008.
The Sigmaglide 990 is a high-performance, two-component, high-solids, pure silicone finish within the PPG SigmaGlide fouling release system range. It is designed to be applied over SigmaGlide 790 or as a refresh coat over itself or SigmaGlide 890. The Sigmaglide 990 has been discontinued and replaced by the Sigmaglide 1290.
The Sigmaglide 990 is a non-toxic, biocide-free fouling release coating that reduces vessel fuel consumption and minimizes environmental impact by creating a smooth hull surface. It offers a wider application window and enhanced smoothness.
