- The Sigma Coatings brand was formed in 1972 through the merger of three companies, one of which was founded in 1722. PPG acquired SigmaKalon, which included the Sigma Coatings brand, in 2008. The Sigma Aquacover 45 product data sheet was revised in September 2009 and again in January 2020.
- The Sigma Aquacover 45 is a one-component, waterborne acrylic dispersion finish within the PPG Sigma Aquacover range. It is a topcoat, often applied over a suitable primer like Sigma Aquacover 25 (now discontinued and replaced by Aquacover One 625). Other products in the Aquacover range include primers like Aquacover 200 and other finishes like Aquacover 40.
- The Sigma Aquacover 45 is particularly chosen for its waterborne, low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) formulation, making it suitable for applications where solvent restrictions are in place due to health and safety concerns. It is fast-drying, recoatable, offers good weather resistance, and retains its color well.
