Sigmadur One was introduced by January 2011, building on the heritage of Sigma Coatings, a brand that originated from a merger of three companies in 1972 and was later acquired by PPG in 2008.
Within PPG's Sigmadur range, Sigmadur One is a single-component urethane polyester finish, distinguishing it from many sibling products like Sigmadur 550 and Sigmadur 1800, which are two-component polyurethane finishes.
Sigmadur One is primarily chosen for its ease of application as a one-pack product, eliminating the need for mixing and simplifying onboard maintenance for topsides, decks, and superstructures. It offers quick drying, good adhesion to aged coatings, and excellent flow and leveling properties.
